The spotted eagle ray in the Galápagos is the eastern Pacific species, a dark ray with white spots that cruises reef edges and sandy flats. It sometimes leaps clear of the water and ranges from Baja California to northern Peru. The IUCN lists the species as vulnerable.

Encountered year-round along reefs and sandy flats; no single citable seasonal peak.
