The Galápagos shark is a large requiem shark that gathers around oceanic islands and reefs, including the waters of its namesake archipelago. Despite the name it is not endemic and occurs at island groups across tropical oceans worldwide. The IUCN lists the species as least concern.

Resident around Galápagos reefs and islands year-round; no single citable seasonal peak.
