Scalesia pedunculata is a tree-forming member of the daisy family endemic to the Galápagos Islands. It grows 15 to 20 meters tall in dense humid-zone stands and is often called the tree daisy. A classic example of adaptive radiation, it evolved from a single ancestral daisy into many island forms and builds the misty Scalesia forest on Santa Cruz, San Cristóbal, Santiago, and Floreana. Invasive plants such as blackberry and quinine, plus past goat grazing, have reduced its range.

Best time to see it

Perennial tree; flowers and grows most actively during the humid garúa season, roughly June to December.
