The blue-footed booby is a large seabird known for the vivid blue feet males show off in a high-stepping courtship dance. It nests on the ground across the Galápagos and dives from height to catch fish. Brighter feet signal a healthier bird, and females favor the bluest-footed mates.

Best time to see it

Breeds year-round in the Galápagos with no single fixed season; timing shifts with food availability and El Niño conditions.
