The legendary 14 passenger Samba may be small in size, but it’s big in reputation (Google it). Pioneering the “Active Galapagos” approach to seeing the islands, a cruise on this ship will ensure you are exposed to the best of what the islands have to offer. Top quality naturalist guides have you up early to catch the sunrise as you kayak through the mangroves, or enjoying the last rays of sun on a remote beach at the end of the day, no opportunities go unexplored on the Samba.

Morning
Baltra Island Airport, Baltra
After landing at Baltra, you’ll cross the Itabaca Channel by ferry, board a bus, and head up to the misty highlands of Santa Cruz. Expect lush, cool terrain, towering giant tortoises mingling in the underbrush, and the chance to explore lava tunnels. The damp paths may be muddy — good walking shoes and a rain jacket are recommended.
Activities
Afternoon
Santa Cruz Island, Puerto Ayora, Santa Cruz
In Puerto Ayora you’ll have a brief stroll through town before boarding the Samba around 17:30. You’ll settle in, meet the crew, and set sail toward your first destination.
Activities
Morning
Floreana Island, Cormorant Point, Floreana
A surreal beach of olivine sand, where flamingos feed in brackish lagoons and sea turtles nest on the shore. You might glimpse stingrays or reef sharks from shallow water — a gentle, intimate entrance to Galápagos wildlife.
Activities
Afternoon
Floreana Island, Devil's Crown, Floreana
One of Galápagos’ most stunning snorkel sites. An eroded volcanic ring forms a reef teeming with tropical fish, turtles, and reef sharks. Dive in to discover dramatic underwater terrain and a vivid marine tapestry.
Activities
Afternoon
Floreana Island, Baroness' lookout, Floreana
Paddle or panga through mangrove channels and islets alive with sea lions and boobies, then climb the old spatter cone. From the top, the panorama reveals small islands, and you’ll hear the story of the island’s enigmatic human past: pirates, settlers, Wittmers, and lost letters.
Activities
Morning
Española Island, Punta Suarez, Española
A classic Galápagos landscape: lava-strewn cliffs, blowholes, and dense seabird life. Marine iguanas, blue-footed boobies, Nazca boobies, Sally light-foot crabs, and possibly the elusive waved albatross (depending on season). The walk along the cliff’s edge is both dramatic and humbling.
Activities
Afternoon
Española Island, Gardner Bay, Española
A long white-sand beach framed by turquoise water, home to a lounging sea lion colony. After a relaxing walk, snorkel in calm shallows, perhaps spotting reef sharks, rays, or turtles. The silence here is profound, broken only by the sea lions’ calls.
Activities
Morning
San Cristóbal Island, Punta Pitt, San Cristobal
The only visitor site in the archipelago where you can see all three species of boobies nesting in one place: Nazca, red-footed, and blue-footed. The hike takes you through lava, scrub, and birds’ nesting zones, then you’ll snorkel in sheltered coves.
Activities
Afternoon
Lobos Island
A rocky islet inhabited by sea lions, blue-footed boobies, and nesting frigate birds. Walk the trail, snorkel in calmer waters, and enjoy close-up encounters with playful sea lions.
Activities
Morning
Santa Fe
A peaceful beach sheltered by cactus-studded promontories. Swim, snorkel, or walk the coastline with endemic land iguanas and sea lions. Beneath the waves, reefs bustle with fish.
Activities
Afternoon
Plazas
The rugged cliffs of South Plaza host a dramatic mix of life: red-weed carpets, land iguanas wandering the slopes, and hundreds of nesting shearwaters, tropicbirds, and swallow-tailed gulls circling overhead.
Activities
Morning
Sombero Chino Island, Santiago
A crescent-shaped islet with a narrow sand spit. A wet landing gives way to snorkeling around lava grottoes and swimming with sea lions, rays, and reef fish.
Activities
Afternoon
Bartholomew
One of the most iconic scenes in the Galápagos: Pinnacle Rock. Climb the wooden steps for a sweeping panorama over lava fields and volcanic cones, then plunge into the water to snorkel among penguins, rays, and tropical fish.
Activities
Morning
Santiago Island, James Bay, Santiago
Walk across ancient lava formations and salt flats, where sea lion colonies and marine iguanas patrol. Take in the raw power of an island shaped by fire.
Activities
Afternoon
Rabida
A striking red-sand beach — the volcanic minerals color the landscape deeply. Snorkel offshore reefs teeming with tropical fish, sea lions, and occasionally sharks.
Activities
Morning
Seymour
Frigate birds drape the trees, boobies parade across cliffs, and land iguanas sun themselves. The flora is dwarf and windswept, but alive with nesting seabirds.
Activities
Afternoon
Baltra Island Airport, Baltra
After morning exploration you’ll return to Baltra, say farewell to Samba, and catch your flight home.
